Welcome Letter
DEAR GUESTS AND COLLEAGUES,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the first edition of the European Network Forensic and Security Conference, which will be held in Heerlen, the Netherlands, on 24, 25 and 26 October 2007. It is with even greater pleasure that we invite you to join us in this conference and welcome you in October.
Computer networks have turned the world into an open and worldwide information society. Any kind of information and easy communication are available to an ever increasing number of Internet users. Although democracy and commerce benefit widely, dependency on these networks and vulnerability to criminal abuse are issues we need to consider urgently. Our conference will focus on the main aspects of Network Security, Forensic (Network) Tracing, Legal Considerations and Social Awareness with regard to the Internet.
Without doubt a major event on the cyber crime agenda, this conference is the first of its kind in the Netherlands. It will feature some of the world’s top specialists, and provide insights in new technological developments in subjects that concern us all. A conference of this calibre is a great opportunity for everyone involved in these fields to meet experts and colleagues, and maybe even design and schedule future joint efforts.
The conference will take place in Heerlen, which offers a nice variety of hotels. If you have never visited Heerlen, this is your chance. Apart from our conference, there are many more reasons to enjoy this beautiful city in the Euregion Rhine-Meuse.
A joint effort of the Regional Platform of Criminality Control South Limburg, the South Limburg Chamber of Commerce, the South Limburg Police/Southern Netherlands High Tech Crime Unit and Zuyd University, the conference will stress the importance of international cooperation. For Zuyd University the conference also celebrates the start of its new course in Network Forensic Research.
We will do our best to ensure a fruitful learning experience for all participants.
We look forward to seeing you in October 2007!
The Organizing Committee
