ENFSC 2007 Conference

Preventing the negative sides demands comprehensive knowledge and skills with regard to security, but also requires the same level of skills with regard to tracing. The constant developments within network environments (secure systems, encryption, decentralised storage of huge volumes of information) require new methods, resources and creativity. Training, cooperation and knowledge exchange are key factors.

This conference aims to improve the network knowledge of professional groups, by telling them about new developments and methods, about opportunities and threats and how to deal with them. Although new forms of security may improve corporate and private security, they have direct consequences for tracing. In order to contribute to successful criminal prosecutions, tracing methods must be continuously adapted to the new technology.

The constant changes make huge demands on management in particular to retain insight into the consequences of all these developments. This can have organisational consequences, but it will certainly have financial and/or legal consequences.

We can achieve a lot, but is this what we want? And how do we convey all this to other social partners, like government and schools, as well as private citizens. “Understand to be understood” is one of the objectives here. Management and technical staff must understand where the future lies for Security and Forensics in order to translate this in time into essential modifications or measures. The conference therefore provides a glimpse into the complex world of the Internet, network environments, security and tracing.

During the two and a half day programme - featuring leading speakers from home and abroad - the following themes will be addressed:

  • Network Security
  • Forensic (network) Tracing
  • Legal Aspects
  • Social Awareness regarding the Internet
